My QR-Code
This is my own QR-Code.
Be honest. You might not be quite sure about what this is yet but you can’t wait to get yours. Well, don’t panic. You can easily generate your own one here.
Q(uick)R(esponse)-codes are two-dimensional barcodes containing unique data that can be rapidly interpreted by a scanner system, for example your phone camera. This means that using your handset you can scan a QR-code and download information directly to your mobile.
So, for example imagine that you’re walking down the street and you pass by a billboard displaying a product or a service that catches your interest. You’d like to get more information immediately and you notice that the advert has a tiny little QR-code at the bottom. You just need to take a snapshot with your phone reader and eureka!, you’ve got all the product information directly in your screen. Easy.
The possibilities for advertisers are endless so the system is getting quite big in countries like Switzerland and Japan, where most of the new handsets in the market come with a built-in QR-code reader. At home, you’ll still need to download an application if you want to enable your European mobile to do QR-code reading although without being a visionary this system has got all it takes to become an increasingly popular trend in the near future.

The possibilities are so interesting and unlimited as the privacy issues will appear.
What if I copy your code? Linking a QR to a e-mail does not mean adding risk of additional spam?
It’s also an innovation for storing quite big quantity of information in paper (some people say even Gb). I think it can’t substitute cds or other kinds of storage. Anyway, it can be a good solution for adding extra security information to, for instance, passports or bills.
We’ll see :)
Interesting technology. More here.
p.s. I just tested your QR code on my phone with the Kaywa reader. It worked perfectly. QR codes on stickers could be quite a cool (or nerdy?) way of doing some guerilla marketing. It’s quite a niche target audience at the moment though!
Hi Miquel,
I guess (I’m not 100% sure) that you can copy my code but since you won’t be able to change the its content, what’s the point? I can also distribute around the url for your website but that doesn’t mean I can edit its content.
About the email issue… well, it’s the same old one. Displaying your email around of course increases the risk of spam. Although not for that you would stop advertising a product. You’d just find a way around to fight it back.
Finally, I don’t think this will replace hard disks as CD’s or DVD’s. I believe this is different, more useful for guerrilla marketing or quick access information about products. But again, this is just my guess. As you say… we’ll see.
Ade,
Yes, it’s quite a cool way to develop some campaigns (a bit geeky though). You can add it to stickers, t-shirts, posters, sites or even print it directly into the product. Did you check the link where a girl got herself a tattoo with her own QR-code? :)
Just a couple of links, both in spanish (sorry).

This allows to what I what trying to explain with the “capacity” issue. You can distribute videos, images, sound, songs with this system. The thing goes further than advertisment despite it’s one of the disciplines will take more profit.

Or more applications of the QR codes (amazing issue btw…), a girl with a QR-code tatoo, mcDonalds detailing nutritional info with a QR-code…
It’s important enough to build a blog in itself. (I’m sure it already exists if you look for it).
ps: Excuse my mistakes at trying to write in English :o)
Nice technology: probably will have a lot of possibilities in the future in Mobile Marketing.
Edu, can u send me an e-mail, please. I want to contact with you.
Thanks…
